Stillman’s Farm Tomato Contest!
August 20 @ 12:00 am - 1:00 pm
We gave away 100 tomato plants this Spring to get more people growing. It’s time to bring your precious tomatoes back to the Boston Public Market for our annual contest. Didn’t get one of our tomatoes? Keep reading, you are welcome too!
Stillman’s Tomato Contest, Sunday August 20!
Drop off entries at the BPM KITCHEN 10am-11:45am. Judging will take place at noon.
We will have many categories from tastiest, ugliest, heaviest, weirdest… and because this is a contest for the fun of growing, everyone will get a prize for participating. Having said that, last year we gave out two $50 gift cards, several $25 gift cards, cool earrings, and more to our first place winners – so it really is worth it.
We will also have snacks and plenty of tomatoes for sampling!
The contest is open to all amateur growers, with separate categories for juniors and adults. All urban gardeners are welcome!
Did you participate in our May tomato plant giveaway but do not have a tomato to enter? Bring a picture of your plant! Every participant in our May tomato plant giveaway will win a prize just for showing up. The goal was to get you growing a tomato plant. We know it has been a tough growing season and parting with your precious fruit might be difficult. Therefore, we will not observe traditional tomato contest entry requirements. Bring one tomato (by all means bring more if you want to show them off and if you have cherry tomatoes, PLEASE try to bring 3-5 so our judges only have to quarter them)
Categories Junior and Adult:Ideally, every entry will be tasted. Don’t have one ready for eating? Bring it anyway. Disclaimer: we’ll be making up the rules as we go, especially for juniors 🙂
Tastiest (may be separated by variety)
Tastiest Cherry Tomato (5 if you have them)
You do not have to have been a participant in our giveaway to participate.
Open to all amateur growers for both adult and junior.
