Blueberries

Varieties we grow and love: We actually grow a pile of varieties so we can keep the season going as long as possible. None of them are significant, but here’s a few for kicks

  • Patriot
  • Bluejay
  • Duke
  • Blueray
  • Elliot
  • Liberty

Storage

As always, fresh produce is most delicious and nutritious when consumed as close to the harvest date as possible. I have kept blueberries beautifully for several days just open in their box in the fridge. They will keep better if protected from the air, so keep them in a plastic bag of possible.

Blueberries freeze beautifully. I like to cover a baking sheet with them, freeze, and then measure out into containers and put back in the freezer. They are not the same as fresh after freezing, but they are still perfect for muffins, pancakes, trifle, you name it.
