Seasonality
Varieties
Varieties we grow and love:
- Bartlett – bright green, rounded, great for fresh eating, wonderful to cook with
- Red Bartlett – the red-blushed variety of Bartlett
- Bosc – firm eating, lovely poached
Storage
As always, fresh produce is most delicious and nutritious when consumed as close to the harvest date as possible.
Pears will keep for a LONG time in the fridge, especially if not fully ripe. With high humidity and in the coldest part of your fridge, Bartletts will store for 3 months, Boscs will keep for 3-5 months!!!
Keep on the counter or in paper bag on the counter for 1-5 days to ripen.
