This classic is one I cannot understand why it is good, but everyone seems to like it—especially small people. It has been the topic of conversation at many Monday pickups!
- 1 – 1/2 cabbage – sliced by hand
- 1 liter ginger ale
- 32 oz ketchup
- 2 pounds chopped meat (any kind is good)
- 1 small onion, chopped
Brown meat and onion in 1/4 cup water (use a very large pot). Drain and set aside. Put sliced cabbage, ginger ale, and ketchup in pot and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Add browned meat mixture to pot (with cabbage) cover and cook 1 1/2 hours. Can be served with rice, mashed potatoes, or fresh bread.
